  1. Jam Science represents the 80s for me. Maybe it was the people I met and hung with at the time but we all loved this album and played it at least 10 times a day. Man, I wish it was available on CD! This album covers it all: dance, rock, great lyrics, fabulous music. I'm not sure Shriekback made a better album than Jam Science/5(6).
  2. Shriekback expanded their ambitions with the aptly named Jam Science, adding more and more layers of rhythm, melody, and noise to their established sound. At times, the ten compositions here threaten to collapse under their own weight -- but they never do.

  6. SHRIEKBACK Vinyl Records and CDs With members who link back to such New Wave luminaries as XTC and Gang of Four, it was no surprise that Shriekback were able to successfully combine artistic leanings with a smooth New Wave sheen. Part club dance, part Funk, part experimental, the band broke onto early alternative radio in with "Nemesis.".
  7. Jan 01,  · This album is clearly a 5-star offering by Shriekback in their heyday. OK Carl Marsh left halfway through, but Barry picked up the vocals for the rest of the album and as a whole this is the Shrieks at their best. Quirky lyrics, less reliance on synth programmed drums than previous 2 albums (thanks to Martyn) and some really punchy guitar work/5(57).
